classics.

I took these pictures because I knew my boyfriend would have wanted to see these cars. I love all things old, and cars are included in that for me, but he has a special love of them seeing as he's a mechanic.

I was trying to be discreet at first.

These two were my favorite. There was a black on that was the same kid of car as the green one above. The green one was infinately cooler.
I feel kind of bad about this blog... I feel like I should be posting more or something. Or at least about different stuff. But I'm not sure what I'm supposed to write about or if I should even 'theme' my posts. Oh, well.

gosh, i love old things.

I collect several things: wooden boxes, old pictures, old glass bottles, make up, jewelry... The list goes on. Another thing I collect is old cameras. This has been a recent obsession for me, and I only have three of them so far.

The first one dates around the 1950s. It's a Wirgin camera. The second one I'm not too sure but I think is from the 1920s. The third one probably came out sometime in the 1890s. It was probably one of the first cameras available to the public for their use.

It's sad how little I remember from my junior year photography class.

cosme.

I officially got accepted to the cosmetology program at my school. It's a very competitive program, your grades have to be better than a lot of peoples to get in. I got in.

I'm very excited about this.

My parents are not. They did the typical "Oh, congratulations." That's it. They didn't even know the program was competitive. It hasn't been mentioned since, except today when my Mom told me I shouldn't do it and that she wanted me to 'consider' going to this other school to work on getting a bachelors. Translation = do it or I'll be pissed.

And they're probably not going to pay for it. If I got a C in any class they said they would stop paying for it. I got a C in a class a few quarters ago. They kept paying. It was the core classes, and I guess they thought that I would give up on the cosmetology thing. But as soon as I get in it gets brought up that they don't have to pay anymore since I got a C. As soon as it's the thing they don't want.

So basically I have to come up with $733.00 by August 3rd or I lose my spot. And that's only the prepay to hold your spot, it doesn't even include books and supplies.

I am so f-ed.

hank 3.

So Hank III was awesome. I saw him in Athens a few years ago at the 40 Watt, and he was good, but he was too fucked up to really care what he was doing. This time he was at the Masquerade in Atlanta. He played a much longer show, and was not snorting cocaine on stage. I got a video of him doing the Grand Ole Opry, and I'm excited about that. Other than that he did all my favorites, and then some, and I left happy. We did not stick around for Assjack.

I wish I'd thought to take pictures of some of the people there. I love to people watch, and the Masquerade is the perfect place to do that, seeing how the people that go there are not really your run-of-the-mill people.  Some people looked pretty bad, but some of those rockabilly chicks looked awesome.

fireworks.

Haven't been on in a bit. Hope everyone had a good 4th. I did, blowing stuff up with the boyfriend and friends. We went to SC real quick to get the fireworks. Frank and Julie went with us. To see Andrew and Frank talk about what fireworks to get you would have thought they were talking about what new car to buy. They ended up getting about $500 worth of fireworks. Then we grilled and ate and set them off.

The men conferring about what to shoot off first.

So anyway... On to other things.
My friend Sonya gave me this dress.
It's from the 50s.
The fabric is velvety on the deep pink part.

I love the dress, but pink is not really my color, and it's hard for me to do strapless. It also doesn't quite fit me right. She knew that but said I could make something with it because the fabric is nice. I don't have the heart to cut it up, so if someone wants it and can offer me something good for it then we'll see. I'm not talking about a lot of money or anything, and if we can come to a trade agreement that's fine, too. It's a size 16/L, the bottom of the dress is a little dirty and the zipper is broken. Get in touch with me if you want measurements.
And I'm off to go get stuff done. Hank 3 tonight at 7 p.m. at the Masquerade. :)

the purses.

Been a few days. I'm up early, my parents left this morning, and I'm listening to Brian Setzer. Life is good.

My vintage purses.

This one was my Mom's in the early 70s.

This I got off eBay. Also from the 70s.

Anyone who likes rockabilly needs to listen to the Brian Setzer record Ignition. Hell, even if you don't like rockabilly you need to listen to it. I'm not even sure if it's really rockabilly, but I think it is. Anyway, it's one of my favorite records of all time.

"If you drive in the fast lane and think your cruisin’ high, check out your rearview mirror man, let the real thing by. ‘Cause when I got ignition I just can’t shut it down, I’ll race ‘till you’re out of gas, I’ll run you out of town."

That's all. :)
